Decoding Americans

Are you preparing for expat assignment in the United States and wondering what to expect? Do you work with Americans on a daily basis, either face to face or virtually, and are you puzzled by some of their motivations and reactions?  This program will give you a solid understanding of the social, economic and historical factors which drive American thinking and behavior.

Prepare yourself with cultural insights and practical exercises
Get a clear understanding of the American mentality, and how it has been shaped by history and environment.  Learn how to optimize personal interactions - both professional and social.

American Culture/Company Culture/Community Culture
We'll also focus on identifying how you can navigate in the specific organization where you will be working, integrating knowledge about the ''company culture'' with what it reflects about American culture.  If you are relocating to the states, we will also discuss the  aspects of the city or community where you will be based,  as a final touch to developing your own strategy for thriving in your new professional and personal setting.

For who ?
This is a flexible half- or full-day program designed to support professionals who are either preparing for an assignment in the USA, or who have frequent business dealings with Americans.

Whether as an individual, couple or group, you  will have the opportunity to:
  • Explore the meaning of "culture"
  • Reflect on your own cultural identity
  • Learn about key historical events which have shaped the American mind
  • Understand  how the American business environment functions
  • Identify typically American communication styles and attitudes
  • Gain insight about the specific organization and region where you will be living and working
